Schedule Your End of Year Review!

You will be hearing from your reviewers soon, if you haven’t already, to schedule your end of year review.   Your reviewer will want to see some samples of your student’s work and progress this year.  Be sure to have those ready so you can easily show them to your reviewer.  Upload to your student’s google folder any grade reports from online classes, classes your students have taken, or any tutorial type class.  Have samples of writing, tests from Math and Science, and projects your student has completed ready for your reviewer to see.  We want you to feel cared for and not just reviewed so be sure to talk to your reviewer about any issues you are having relating to home schooling.  We have wonderful reviewers who have a wealth of knowledge to share.  If you don’t hear from your reviewer soon please feel free to reach out to me at the FSP office or to your reviewer.  Final reviews and grades should be completed by June 30.  If you need an exception to that we are happy to work with you.

Have you enrolled for 2024-25 yet?

We have opened re-enrollment for the school year 2024-25.  Remember this is only for returning families.  If you are new and want to join please contact csmith@covlife.org. We are looking forward to serving you all again this year! Please take a moment to visit our Registration page here  and fill out the online re-enrollment for your family.  Remember, the enrollment is under the parent name, not the student.  You will be asked in the form for your student’s information (name, grade, birth date). This registration is for existing or returning FSP families, not new families.  If you are new and are interested in joining the Covenant Life Family Schools Program you will need to fill out a New Family Application found on the Forms page of our website.   All families must also submit a Program Agreement form found on the Forms page of the website.

Used Curriculum Sale

We are excited to invite all to our Used Curriculum Sale, Friday, May 3, 2019, from 6pm to 9pm in the Events Center at Covenant Life Church.  We need shoppers and sellers.  Please let us know if you are wanting to sell by submitting this form.  There is a facebook event created on our Family Schools Program of CLC facebook page.  Please let us know if you plan to attend via the facebook event.

FSP Showcase & Recital

Our FSP Showcase will be held the evening of April 19, 2024 starting at 6pm.  Students may display a project board, art work, writing pieces and/or pretty much anything they want to show off here at the end of the year.  We look forward to celebrating all you have done this year. Along with each student’s work, please send the name and grade of the student.  We ask all FSP families to participate by bringing something to display. This year we are adding a drama presentation by our SOAR middle and high school drama class, Romeo and Juliet,  and a fun Kindergarten and 8th grade graduation ceremony. Details on the timeline of the evening will come soon – check back here. FSP will provide drinks and some salty refreshments. Please bring a treat to share with all.

SOAR Co-Op Waitlist

Our amazing SOAR co-op is adding families to our Waitlist because we are at full capacity.  We may be adding some other classes to accommodate more families but that is still undetermined.  If you are thinking about adding SOAR to your homeschool or just learning more about SOAR, contact our SOAR leadership.  They would love to tell you more about what SOAR is all about.  We will also be hosting some Open Houses in the spring so contact us if you want to know more about our SOAR program.  Email Jessica Hawkins (jessica.hawkins99@gmail.com) or Laura Chinn (snogal11@gmail.com) to discuss more about SOAR.

Inclement Weather Policy

With the weather being so unpredictable this time of year: Just a reminder that if MCPS cancels on a Friday, SOAR classes will be cancelled too. If there is a 2-hr delay, the likely scenario is that Candy’s 9:00 English class will be cancelled but Amanda’s 10:45 art class will go on. But we will always do our best to send clear communication via email if there are any schedule changes due to weather! If FSP has an event on a day that MCPS schools have closed due to weather our event will be cancelled or moved to virtual.

Homeschooling 101 for Dads

Send the Dads to our March 8, 2019 Teacher  Training Night.  This is especially for them!! We will have David Finch, a long time homeschool dad and former pastoral leader for FSP, with us to encourage, inspire and spur on the Dads of FSP.  So often we get questions from the Dads about what they can do to support the homeschooling happening in their realm.  David has lots of wisdom to share – you won’t want your hubby to miss this!  We will meet in the Edwards room from 7pm to 9pm.  Hope to see lots of dads there!

Homeschooling 101 – March 3

Do you know someone who is interested in homeschool? or who wants to join a support group like FSP?  We have a night set aside to talk with families about homeschooling, state requirements and regulations, how an umbrella group supports your homeschooling, and general information on what it looks like to homeschool today. This is for anyone who is considering homeschooling or just wants to know more about it.  If you know anyone who might benefit from this info night please put them in contact with us!! We would love to answer any questions and help families see how amazing homeschooling can be.  This informative evening is here at Covenant Life Church at 7:30pm in Room 226 on March 3, 2020.  We would love to see you there.
